Curriculum of Excellence

This curriculum aims to ensure that all children and young people in Scotland develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they will need in order to achieve in life, education, work, the present and in the future.

The purpose of the curriculum is encapsulated in the four capacities; to enable each child or young person to be a successful learner, a confident individual, a responsible citizen and an effective contributor.

At college we participate in the Curriculum for Excellence (CFE) which helps us become better learners and can contribute towards a better future. It identifies four purposes that enables young people to be successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.

All of my current subjects in my course are in some aspect linked to the Curriculum of Excellence.

Special Effects & Character Makeup

In this class it is important to be creative and have the determination to achieve the highest level of work. Confidence & motivation is also important as you have to believe in yourself in order to use your abilities to the highest potential, & afterwards, be proud of your work.

Hairdressing

It is most important in this class to be a successful learner as we could potentially injure someone if we do not understand something properly & are not familiar with the correct procedure. We must have the confidence in order to communicate with people whether it be clients or class mates. It is equally important to be responsible when working with chemicals & electrical equipment as health & safety procedures must be followed. Must also be respectful of clients needs & requirements.

Wig Making

Successful learning is required in order to pass the class,  must have the self motivation to ensure you work to the best of your ability to produce the best product outcome.

Overall, all of my classes this year combined with the Curriculum for Excellence can help me progress to become an effective contributor by gathering the skills needed in order to acquire a successful job in the future, as well as building confidence along the way.
